Where? Cleveland Park Congregational United Church of Christ, 3400 Lowell Street
When? Thursday, May 18th at 6:30 PM, and streaming on the CPCA Facebook page.
Why? The Office of Planning released its draft guidelines for development of Connecticut Avenue from Cleveland Park through Woodley Park on April 21st (linked here – https://www.publicinput.com/rcw-connecticut#0). The public comment period ends on May 26th.
The guidelines are intended to inform review of development proposals by ANC 3C, the Historic Preservation Review Board and the Zoning Board. OP solicited public input to inform preparation of the draft, and this is our opportunity to comment on whether the proposal reflects neighborhood needs and priorities, including with regard to affordable housing, promoting the vitality and diversity of the Cleveland Park Connecticut Avenue commercial strip, and the neighborhood’s tree lined, historic character.
The primary recommendation is to permit buildings of up to 7 stories (75 feet), a scale at which OP reports 20% of units could be required to be affordable. The report also addresses considerations such as setbacks, materials, and other design considerations
